Sara’s response to her Birthday messages
Posted on September 2nd, 2010 under News
Sara’s birthday was a few days ago (august 31st) and a lot of fans wrote birthday messages and made videos to her and she took the time to write a little something something for all you guys.
I just want to thank everyone who took the time to post birthday messages and videos. They were ALL just wonderful! It really means the world to me that you would take the time and energy to send some love my way. I felt it all weekend and all day yesterday and I am STILL feeling it! I also want to give a shout out to Dars, and Elyima for making that amazing video. You two are fierce and creative and I felt so much joy watching that video. Thank you for keeping a dialogue going in the Callie and Arizona communities and for encouraging others to take part in a very exciting Season 7 of Grey’s Anatomy!
Please join me on Oct. 4th for my foundation (The Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation)’s benefit Broadway Takes the Runway! It should be an intimate and heartfelt night. I only hope to entertain you, inspire you to feel and think, to speak out and stand up for what you believe, and to reflect back what I know to be true: that we all deserve to love and be loved, without shame, without guilt, without allowing anyone to take away the power or the joy of being true to one’s self.
I send you all my deepest respect and love,
Sara

Sara Ramirez on Turning 35: “You Couldn’t Pay Me to Go Back!”
Posted on August 31st, 2010 under News
Grey’s Anatomy star, Sara Ramirez turns the big 3-5 on August 31st, but the Mexican actress isn’t complaining about getting older. “When I was younger, the thirties seemed so far away, and now it’s here and I’m on my way to 40,” says Ramirez. “But with what I know now, you couldn’t pay me to go back! It’s so great. I’m not one of those actors who lies about their age. I’m thrilled to be turning 35 and I’m grateful to be alive and well and healthy.”
So how exactly does Sara plan to celebrate her milestone birthday? “It’s on a Tuesday so I might be working,” she explains.
“A few weeks ago, Jessica [Capshaw] had her birthday on the Grey’s set and I wanted to make sure she had a good time so I got her a couple of birthday cakes to celebrate with the cast and crew,” says Ramirez. “Sometimes it can be fun to celebrate your birthday at work— you bring in a cake and everybody gets to have some sugar and we all crash together and cry about it!”
“I also have a friend flying in from New York this weekend and I’m planning to hang out with him and his wife and their kids, so I’m really happy about that,’ adds Ramirez

Grey’s Anatomy DVD Features Lost Musical Episode
Posted on August 27th, 2010 under Grey's Anatomy
Last May’s chilling Grey’s Anatomy season finale was so perfect just about the only thing missing was a big musical number. And I’ve just learned that one was actually filmed, but didn’t make the cut because of all the characters that were shot.
Sadly, there just wasn’t enough room in the bullet-riddled finale to include everything that was filmed, and a lot of gems ended up on the cutting room floor. But the musical scene, as well as some other juicy tidbits adding up to an additional 18 minutes, will be included on Grey’s Anatomy’s Season 6 DVD (out Sept. 14).
How many new docs will scrub into Grey’s? Zero, says Rhimes
“Callie [Sara Ramirez] sings to a patient in the children’s ward to calm her down,” previews Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes. “Lexie [Chyler Leigh] gets thrown out of an ambulance. Bailey [Chandra Wilson] gives the monologue of her life to Mary [guest star Mandy Moore] during the lockdown, and Mary’s husband [Ryan Devlin] gives a really beautiful speech about what happened to Mary. We had to lose a lot of really great stuff.”
I should say if you’re hoping to hear Sara sing on the scale of her Tony-award winning performance in Broadway’s Spamalot, you should temper your expectations. I hear it’s more of a sweet scene that’ll make us go “aww,” rather than “Encore, Encore!”
